The mission of CCI meet-ups is to bring the mission and values of China’s Children International to local communities in the form of social events and adoptee - led workshops.
You’ve asked for it, and we’re delivering! There truly is a kind of connection that can only be captured in person, and CCI recognizes the importance of building beyond our internet community. CCI is currently in beta for local communities. We hope to bring CCI’s commitment to connection and support within the Chinese adoptees to face-to-face meet ups.
What do meet-ups look like?
We will meet up in a public location to enjoy each other’s company. The nature of the activity varies by event. Sometimes we will host more formal workshops and discussion based sessions, for example, a Chinese adoptee birth parent search panel. Sometimes, the events will be casual social occasions in which we will meet up for food, friends, and fun. We also often attend cultural events and locations, such as museum exhibits, book talks, and film screenings.
Who is invited?
We love our parents, but this is an adoptee-only space! For now, we are limiting the events to ages 18+ for liability and logistical reasons. We may in the future potentially expand to offering events for high school age adoptees, such as mentoring or educational programs.
If you are a Chinese adoptee 18 and older, we welcome you to apply to our local-meet-ups Facebook Groups. CCI is currently offering meet-ups in the following locations:
We are currently in beta for piloting CCI local meet-ups around the country and around the world.
If you are interested and committed to leading a CCI local-chapter in your area, please email email@example.com for more information. Please include your self-introduction and an updated resume.
These groups are to facilitate local in-person meet-ups. By taking part in these local meet-ups, you are consenting that you understand and accept the risks that inherently come with traveling to and from and being in urban areas, as well as meeting up with potential strangers. You freely assume all risk of accident, injury, illness, or damage to you or your property or person associated with participation in these events.
You MUST use your discretion in taking part in events, especially for events not officially sponsored by CCI. If you have any questions whether an event is officially sponsored, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
