As part of CCI's Adoptee Only Chats, we have initiated a Guest Speakers project to invite influential figures in the Adoption Community to speak about their inspiring work. Each month, we host a live-streamed video chat over Google+ and Youtube with a reserved amount of spots for our members to listen to our speakers’ stories and engage in productive dialogue; we then share the video with our entire community.

In this way, we hope to inspire further leadership and effective, productive dialogue within the International Adoptee Community. This month, we're extremely honored to welcomeSamantha Futerman, director of the 2015 documentary film Twinsters and Co-Founder of the international adoption non-profit Kindred.

From Twinsters' official website: In February 2013, Anaïs Bordier, a French fashion student living in London, stumbled upon a YouTube video featuring Samantha Futerman, an actress in Los Angeles, and was struck by their uncanny resemblance. After discovering they were born on the same day in Busan, Korea and both put up for adoption, Anaïs reached out to Samantha via Facebook. In Twinsters, we follow Samantha and Anaïs’ journey into sisterhood, witnessing everything from their first meeting, to their first trip back to Korea where their separation took place.

Twinsters explores the meaning of family and connection through a story that would have been impossible just 10 years ago without the creation of YouTube and Facebook. http://twinstersmovie.com

Kindred is an international organization founded by Samantha Futerman and Jenna Ushkowitz that aims to provide international and domestic adoptees and their families (both adoptive and biological) with services such as travel, translation, and support for those who wish to reunite; easily accessible hotlines; introduction to art and encouragement of artistic expression; and programs set in native countries to aid orphans living within the foster care and government systems. http://www.kindredadoption.org
