Where to start.

Take your time.
The decision to search is personal and should never feel forced. Take your time in making the best decision for you. If you choose to embark on this journey keep these few things in mind.
Have a strong support system. This can include friends, family, and even mental health professionals who can support you every step of the way. It’s crucial to have people in your corner who can be there to love and support you throughout this journey.
It’s ok to take a break or even stop your search. Searching can take a lot of you mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. Know your limits and feel comfortable making the decision to pause or even stop. You can always start up again if that is what you choose.
It’s ok to put yourself first. Oftentimes adoptees feel like they have to cater to everyone else’s thoughts and feelings about searching before they are allowed to feel themselves. Remember searching is about you and your quest to find biological family members. Nothing more, nothing less.
