OUTSIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS POLICY

CCI aims to share relevant news, updates, research, and projects among the adoptee community on our various platforms. Chinese adoptee community members are welcome to submit adoptee-centric announcements of their own (i.e., ‘Outside Announcements’). [Outside announcements from adoptee-led organizations and non-Chinese adoptees will be accepted at the discretion of the board.] Please note we are only accepting submissions from Chinese adoptees and adoptee-run organizations. Outside Announcements are not CCI sponsored events. Please be aware all submissions must abide by CCI’s general rules, including but not limited to:

  • Be courteous: announcements containing hate speech / bullying will not be tolerated

  • Be mindful to avoid promotions and spam: if a post has a monetary value attached to it, ensure that sharing it will benefit the adoptee community at large and is not just for personal gain

  • Be respectful of everyone’s privacy: by submitting an announcement, you are giving consent to CCI to publish the works on the site(s) of your choosing. Be sure you have the permissions of all parties involved before submitting

  • Be creative: CCI loves to see all forms of announcements from the community! Art, projects, events, etc. We are happy to collaborate and brainstorm with any members who would like assistance with pending announcements to optimize textual and visual appearance.

  • Be purposeful: please share posts that may be directly relevant to adoption and the adoptee community. Posts that are not directly relevant may be rejected.

Important CONSIDERATIONS

  • Those seeking to use CCI’s platforms and resources for research purposes must also be Chinese adoptees. Any projects, surveys, or research must be affiliated with some type of institution, such as an academic institution (Institutional Review Boards [IRB] approved) or accredited news source (i.e., journalism). Please include a letter of information that proves that you are associated with an institution.

Any projects, surveys, or research involving human participants must include an ethical consideration regarding how the data will be stored and protected. The proposal must also include how their work will benefit the broader Chinese adoptee community. All projects, surveys, or research done with human participants must have applied for IRB approval if required.

    • Responsibility for confirming whether your study needs IRB approval lies with the researcher themselves.

    • For high schoolers and undergraduates completing term papers, please provide the syllabus and/or a written description of the assignment from the institution. If the syllabus is unavailable, a letter/email from your teacher/professor will suffice.

For courtesy, please include a deadline for research participation.

  • CCI is a non-religious organization and will not accept any posts associated with religion.

  • Only nonpartisan posts will be accepted. Anything advocating for a specific political party or candidate will not be accepted. Topics that do not directly impact the adoptee community may not be approved.

  • Personal promotions or fundraisers are not accepted at this time. Adoptee-related camps/programs/events that cost money are subject to review.

CCI is happy to discuss any potential announcements should there be any further questions.
